Children in Need 2016

9th December 2016Events

Charity starts at work!

As has become a tradition for many years here within the Leisure Concepts Group, we all made the effort to dress up for the sake of Children in Need. Each person donated £5 (£10 if not in costume!) and dressed up as either good or evil. At midday, we all posed for the annual photo which neatly demonstrated everyone’s outfit.

We had a great turnout with almost everyone dressing up. There were costumes across the spectrum. From angels and Batman, to evil witches and Negan. The spectrum of costumes was hugely diverse, with such divisive characters, such as Anonymous and a cyclist. There wasn’t an official ‘best in show’ for this event, but a few standout costumes. Graham’s simple but effective Jack Torrance outfit used a plank of wood whilst Sara’s Cruella de Vil costume was more detailed.

The important bit: charity

Although it was a lot of fun, it’s important to remember why we dress up for the occasion. Running since November 1980, Children in Need has raised a staggering amount of money. This year alone, the charity has raised over £46.5m. It is an incredibly important charity and does an amazing job of uniting the country in one cause; giving to the less fortunate than ourselves. If you’d like to learn more about where the money goes, check out their website, which details the difference they make in each part of the country.

All in all, if an enjoyable day in the office also helps children who are in need, then it’s well worth the effort. We look forward to continuing the tradition next year and for years to come. In the meantime, look out for other charity events we’ll be taking part in over the year in our events category where these will be showcased.
